This vinyl, recorded between December 1961 and February 1962 at Beauvaisbelongs fully to this second category. It is not a question of commercial production, but of Unique audio testimony, by the students and former students of the Beauvais Normal Schools, accompanied by their teachers and mentors of the time.
Pressed confidentially by The Orpheus Kiosk, a structure now known for its very small circulations for schools, choirs and institutions, this record was not intended for the general public. It was first and foremost conceived as a collective memory, an object of transmission, sometimes handed over to participants or kept in families.
Sixty years later, he became a true memory piece.
Perhaps it will recognize a familiar voice, a name mentioned, a teacher, a period of training, years of youth spent in Beauvais. For some former pupils or former pupils — or for their descendants — this disc may represent much more than vinyl : a tangible link with a personal and collective history.
The ensemble combines classical music, choral songs and stage music, faithfully reflecting the pedagogical, artistic and human spirit of the Normal Schools of the early 1960s.
Preserved with original illustrated pouch and its explanatory sheet, this copy today constitutes a rare heritage object, sought as much by knowledgeable collectors as by those attached to the history of teaching, music and the city of Beauvais.
