BD before 1950

Before 1950, the comic book was still in its infancy, mainly published in newspapers, magazines or booklets.
It is the time of the great Franco-Belgian classics as Zig and Piece, Snipe or Nickeled Feet.
The drawing is often simple, in black and white, with a very codified style.
The layout respects rigid formats, very influenced by the press.
American comics (such as Flash Gordon or Superman) are also beginning to arrive in Europe.
These albums are rare because few survived in good condition.
They are of particular interest to collectors and lovers of comics history.
The themes revolve around humor, adventure and morality.
The album format is not yet dominant; There are mostly boards or booklets.
It is a founding era of 9th art, at the crossroads of popular literature and illustration.
