This disc Columbia 78 original towers is a superb testimony of the golden age of phonographic publishing, produced in England during the 1920s by the Columbia Graphophone Company.

Unlike vinyl records that appeared much later, this piece is pressed in shellac, a composite natural material today disappeared, recognisable by its heavy weight, its rigidity and its characteristic sound.

The lacquer gum gives these discs a unique physical and acoustic presence: wide furrows, high speed reading (78 turns / Speed 80 On the label) and direct, powerful sound restitution, designed for mechanical phonographs and gramophones of the time. It is precisely this technical specificity that makes these discs Historically and culturally valuablefar beyond their simple musical content.

The interpretation proposed here is that of Cherniavsky Trio (violin, cello and piano), a formation known at the beginning of the twentieth century for the finesse of its transcriptions and expressiveness. The choice of extracts from the Peer Gynt Suite dEdvard Grieg highlights both the dramatic richness of the work and the intimacy of the chamber formation, offering an elegant and intensely evocative reading.

The copy presented is in very good condition of both sides. One slight surface dust has been delicately removed with a soft cloth of glasses, fully respecting the integrity of the support. The labels are legible, without major defects, and Columbia's period paper pouch accompanies the disc, adding an authentic and decorative dimension appreciated by collectors.

This disc is not intended for modern vinyl platinum: it is essential to have a 78 revolution compatible equipment with adapted tip.
