– The Voice of His Master sought by classical music lovers and demanding collectors.
On one side, Carnival of Animals of the Camille Saint-Saëns, a playful, brilliant and subtly ironic work, which became an essential pillar of the orchestral repertoire. Behind its apparent lightness lies a refined writing, a great harmonic richness and remarkable instrumental inventiveness. Each movement paints the portrait of an animal with spirit, humour and elegance, illustrating all the composer's narrative genius.
From the other, Model Animals of the Francis Poulenc, orchestral suite less known but equally precious, which reveals a more biting, sometimes grinning facet of the composer. Poulenc mixes poetry, satire and modernity in a typical French style, lively and incisive, which contrasts admirably with the romantic tradition of Saint-Saëns.
The whole is interpreted by the Conservatory Concert Society Orchestraunder the direction of Georges Priest, emblematic conductor of the French repertoire, known for the precision of his direction, his sense of orchestral colours and his musical elegance. The presence of pianists Aldo Ciccolini and Alexis Weissenberg gives this recording additional artistic value, reinforcing its historical and musical interest.
Pressing EMI France, with the famous red label The Voice of His Master, guarantees a warm and balanced sound restitution, faithful to the quality standards of the time. The illustrated pouch, with refined graphic aesthetics, fully contributes to the charm of this collection object.
An essential record for any amateur of classical music on vinyl, but also a choice piece for a premium collection, combining artistic, historical and aesthetic value.
