Presentation in this review of the Film.
In this last film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense mixes black humour and police intrigue in a comedy full of twists.
Blanche Tyler, a charlatane psychic, is visited by a rich lady who wants to find her nephew, who has been missing for years. With the help of her companion George, a somewhat clumsy taxi driver, she starts following in the footsteps of this mysterious heir.
But their investigation quickly crosses the road of a much more dangerous couple: Arthur and Fran, two criminals as discreet as they are effective, involved in high-risk kidnappings. Both stories intertwine into a haletant confrontation, in the inimitable style of Hitchcock.
Scenario: Ernest Lehman, after the novel The Rainbird Pattern by Victor Canning
Music: John Williams
Production: Universal Pictures
This film shows a Hitchcock at the top of his art, playing with the thriller codes while amusing conventions of the genre. The comic duo formed by Blanche and George brings a touch of lightness, while the antagonists embody a real and icy threat. Hitchcock once again plays with appearances and fakes, in a ballet perfectly orchestrated with suspense and derision.
Plus: The VHS Cassette is included with the Paper and in addition has never been opened, again in its original film. The must for a collector!
